When watering, make sure to saturate the soil and only water again when the top layer is dry. Shaping and pruning should be minimal, as the Monterey Cypress naturally grows in a cone shape. For optimal growth, place the bonsai in a well-lit room with 6-8 hours of sunlight per day. This hardy plant does not require fertilizers, as it is adapted to grow in infertile soil.
