African Violets are celebrated worldwide as a preferred houseplant. They are compact in size and prolific in blooming, with a variety of leaf shapes and hues available. These plants are distinguished by their soft, fuzzy leaves arranged in a rosette and their delicate, violet-like flowers that bloom just above the robust evergreen leaves. Don't be deterred by their reputedly temperamental nature; with adherence to a few simple guidelines, African Violets can be grown successfully indoors. With regular care, they can continuously bloom nearly all year round and may even grow as large as a dinner plate.

African Violets thrive in bright, indirect light and require a well-draining potting mix; otherwise, they risk root rot, which is signaled by waterlogged soil, spindly growth, pale green leaves, and leaf drop. Fluorescent lights positioned 30-38 cm above the plants can be advantageous.

Watering
Keep the soil consistently moist with lukewarm water, ensuring high humidity. To prevent damage, avoid getting the leaves wet; water from the bottom or insert the watering tool into the soil. Make sure the African Violet is not left standing in water.

Temperature and Humidity
African Violets prefer warm, humid conditions, flourishing at 21 degrees Celsius. Avoid temperatures dropping below approximately 15 degrees Celsius and protect the plants from drafts.

Fertilizing
Fertilize with a specialized African Violet fertilizer biweekly during the growing season, following the instructions on the product label for dosage.
